Since pastel work is somewhat fragile until framed, I have a special packaging method that insures that a pastel painting will arrive in your home just as it left mine, and also enables you to carry the painting to your framer.  The four steps I use in  packing and shipping a pastel painting are shown below.

Packaging Step 1

Step one: I build a framework on a board so the painting will not move during shipping.

Packaging Step 2

Step 2: The painting is fitted within the framework.

Packaging Step 3

Step 3: The painting is covered with a sheet of acid-free glassine.

Packaging Step 4

Step 4: A top cardboard layer is added to “sandwich” the painting and prevent movement. The entire package is protected with bubble wrap, placed in a box, and sent off to you. I’ve had complete success with this packing and shipping method!
